Manchester United have deal in place to hire Jose Mourinho this summer, claims Gianluca Di Marzio

The 52-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and is believed to have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ in place to replace Louis van Gaal.

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was keen not to sack the Dutchman in mid-season, despite a torrid December that saw the Red Devils exit the Champions League group stages and lose to the likes of Norwich and Bournemouth.

However, the Red Devils look unlikely to make next season’s Champions League and the 64-year-old will be relieved of his duties once that eventuality is mathematically impossible.

Mourinho has made no secret of his admiration for United in the past but he’s been unwilling to speak out on his desire to manage the club due to his close relationship with Van Gaal.

However, in a Twitter Q&A session, Di Marzio claimed that Mourinho has a deal in place to move to Old Trafford this summer and that we are only awaiting an official confirmation.
